Navy helicopter crashes off coast of Virginia

A search and rescue operation is underway after a U.S. Navy helicopter crashed during a training mission off the coast of Norfolk, Va., Wednesday.

The Navy confirmed on their twitter account that a MH-53E Sea Dragon helicopter had gone into the water.

Navy Spokesman Cmdr. Mike Kafka told the Virginian-Pilot that four of the five crew members on board the helicopter have been rescued, but did not disclose their conditions. The Coast Guard and Navy are searching for one more missing crew member, he added.

The helicopter crashed about 12 nautical miles east of Cape Henry.
